Panoramic X-ray

A panoramic X-ray is a crucial two-dimensional dental radiograph that provides a comprehensive view of your entire oral structure. It’s an indispensable tool during your initial examination, offering a broad perspective that aids significantly in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

What a Panoramic X-ray Reveals

This single image captures both your upper and lower jaws, all your teeth, and surrounding bone structures. It allows your dentist to identify a wide range of conditions that might not be visible during a visual oral examination. Key insights gained from a panoramic film include:

  • Interproximal Cavities: Decay hidden between teeth that are difficult to spot otherwise.
  • Bone Defects and Bone Loss: Crucial for diagnosing advanced gum disease (periodontitis) and assessing overall bone health.
  • Wisdom Tooth Positions: Essential for evaluating impacted or problematic wisdom teeth, aiding in planning their extraction or monitoring.
  • Implant Planning: Provides a foundational overview of bone availability and anatomical structures for initial implant assessments.
  • Overall Treatment and Prosthesis Planning: Helps in formulating comprehensive treatment strategies for various dental issues, including restorative work and denture fabrication.

Safety and Comfort for International Patients

While radiation exposure is always a consideration, modern digital panoramic X-ray devices have significantly reduced radiation levels compared to older conventional machines. This technological advancement means that getting a panoramic film today is safer than ever.

For our international patients visiting our clinic, you can be assured that we utilize clean, state-of-the-art digital radiography equipment. This ensures that the diagnostic process is not only safe but also highly efficient. The clarity and detail provided by our digital X-rays enable our dental team to make quick and accurate diagnoses, streamlining your treatment journey in Turkey. You’ll receive a precise assessment without unnecessary delays.

When More Detail is Needed

While a panoramic film is an essential first step, it might not always provide every minute detail required for highly specific diagnoses. In such cases, your dentist may opt for periapical or bite-wing radiographs. Periapical films offer a highly detailed view of one or two teeth from crown to root, including the surrounding bone. Bite-wing radiographs, on the other hand, are excellent for detecting cavities between teeth and assessing the health of the bone supporting your molars and premolars.

In summary, the panoramic X-ray is a fundamental diagnostic tool in our clinic, laying the groundwork for precise and effective dental care, ensuring that your journey to a healthier smile is built on a solid foundation of accurate information.
