Endocrown, Inlay, and Onlay: Durable Solutions for Damaged Teeth
When a tooth is extensively damaged due to decay or fracture, making direct repair in the mouth challenging, we often opt for indirect restorations like Endocrowns, Inlays, and Onlays. Similar to porcelain or zirconia restorations, these are crafted from composite materials after precise tooth preparation using special techniques and a detailed impression.
These restorations are designed to prevent further fracture of the tooth and are remarkably long-lasting. In some cases, they can even be considered stronger than traditional crowns.
Glued in place with specialized, highly durable adhesives, these restorations can be life-savers, especially in Endocrown cases. For teeth that have undergone root canal treatment and subsequently lost a filling, had a post come out, or completely fractured, there might not be enough remaining tooth structure for a conventional crown. In such situations, the root-canal-treated area within the tooth becomes a usable space. We then prepare the tooth using unique cutting techniques, take an impression, and the Endocrown is custom-fabricated outside the mouth. This allows for a robust and long-lasting restoration even when significant tooth structure is lost.
