Zirconium crowns<\/b> are an easily applicable treatment option at our clinic in Ankara Bat\u0131kent<\/b>. Zirconium offers a more aesthetic appearance compared to standard porcelains, and its fabrication stages are similar to those of porcelain. However, the difference in material and its specific uses require the dentist to have a thorough understanding of the material. During tooth preparation (tooth reduction and preparation)<\/b>, the dentist must know the thickness of the material to be used and perform the tooth reduction accordingly. During try-ins, care must be taken against shear forces.<\/p>\n

Zirconium is a more aesthetic material compared to older types of metal-backed crowns (formerly known as MDPs). Zirconium contains no grey or metallic material. Its color is white. Its application areas are very similar, and zirconium can be used in most areas where older types of porcelain were used.<\/p>\n

Another advantage of zirconium over metal-backed porcelain is that older types of porcelain, while attached to the tooth in the mouth, can cause gum discoloration<\/b> over time. This is observed as a purplish-black reflection on the gums. We often see that in most patients presenting with aesthetic complaints after years of use, metal-backed porcelains were applied to their front teeth. In such cases, we remove the old porcelains, treat the underlying teeth, and then use temporary teeth to wait for a period for the gum discoloration to resolve. Once the gums regain their healthy color, we take precise impressions again and replace the restorations with new types of zirconium crowns<\/b>, monolithic zirconium<\/b>, or full porcelains<\/b> to achieve more aesthetic results.<\/p>\n

Zirconium and its derivative crowns<\/b> can also be used during smile design<\/b>. Zirconium crowns are a frequently preferred method for patients with crowded teeth<\/b> or congenital discolorations, decay, and fractures<\/b> on their front teeth. With the presence of technology in our clinic, zirconium crowns can now be applied much more easily as a treatment option for our patients.<\/p>\n

Multiple methods can be used when taking impressions for zirconium crowns. Older methods involved taking impressions with putty-like or play-doh-like materials. However, this method is now being phased out.<\/p>\n

At our clinic, using our intraoral scanner<\/b>, 3D digital impressions of the teeth can be taken, and then tooth designs can also be prepared in a computer environment. We utilize all the possibilities of technology in our clinic by keeping up with innovations. Thanks to the intraoral scanner, impression taking is very quick, and patients no longer have to keep large impression trays in their mouths as before. This feature is particularly beneficial for patients who experience nausea. We can take impressions from patients at our clinic using this method without causing any nausea.<\/p>\n

Zirconium Teeth: Perfecting Your Smile<\/h2>\n

Zirconium teeth<\/b> are exceptional materials designed to perfectly mimic natural tooth morphology and color, chosen to be as close as possible to your natural teeth, thereby completing both aesthetics and function.<\/p>\n

To create zirconium restorations, it’s first necessary to reduce (prepare or cut) the teeth slightly, just enough to accommodate the restoration. This procedure is performed in the mouth with water cooling and local anesthesia. After the precise tooth reduction, an intraoral impression is taken.<\/p>\n

Subsequently, if the prepared teeth are in the front region, temporary teeth are fabricated and cemented on the same day to restore the patient’s aesthetics. In other words, the patient is not sent home with prepared teeth. When the tooth is vital (alive), making a temporary restoration after tooth reduction is extremely beneficial to prevent or reduce sensitivity to hot and cold.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

Zirconium Teeth: Finishing Touches<\/h2>\n

After the zirconium is fabricated, try-ins are conducted a few days later to check its compatibility with your mouth. At the end of these try-ins, final adjustments are made, and the color is precisely chosen. Once these steps are complete, the tooth is finished, and all that remains is the cementation<\/b>, or bonding process.<\/p>\n

In the final session, the tooth is bonded, allowing the patient to use it in their daily life.<\/p>\n

Approximately one week after the cementation of the prosthesis (crown), the patient is called back for a follow-up appointment. During this visit, any premature contacts are corrected, gum and cement residues are checked, and occlusion (bite) is verified. This concludes the treatment.<\/p>\n
